Pop Bottle Mailer

Posted on: September 25, 2007

In response to myartfullife who wanted to know how to make a mailer out of a two liter pop bottle. It’s so easy! You’ll think – why didn’t I think of that? Hubby has already recycled the bottle so I can’t show a picture but I’ll try to explain as best I can.

Turn the bottle on its side, make three cuts, one up and down about 3 inches, one side to side about 5 inches and another one up and down 3 inches. Basically, you’re cutting three sides of an oblong shape (you don’t want to cut the fourth or you’ll end up removing a piece of the bottle, you’re aiming for a flap instead). Now you have a flap you can lift up that will allow you to fill the bottle til your heart is content. Then, tape over the cuts and then tape your mailing label over that. That’s why I couldn’t find out how she did it, I didn’t see any obvious cuts. Well, of course, they were under the label. Cool, huh?

Awesome idea! You could really make it pretty too!

I just can’t get over how cool that is. I’m going to test mail in a soda bottle something because I just can’t believe it.

That is so clever! Thanks for sharing how to make it.

Wow. And the post office doesn’t have an issue with this most unusual packaging?!* That’s what’s *really* amazing! Thank you so much for the explanation. Can’t wait to try it myself!
